Wash, dry and fold is the main service of most laundry shops in the Philippines. Customers drop off their laundry, and you hand it back clean, dry, fresh-smelling and neatly folded. It sounds simple, but the shops that grow are the ones that do it the same way, every time.
This guide walks you through a step-by-step wash, dry and fold process you can teach your staff, plus the supplies you need to keep every load consistent.
What a wash, dry and fold service includes
A standard wash, dry and fold order covers washing, drying and folding the customer’s clothes, usually priced per kilo. Many shops also offer add-ons such as ironing, stain treatment, comforter and bedsheet cleaning, express service, and pickup and delivery.
Step 1: Receive, check and weigh the laundry
A careful intake prevents most customer complaints later.
- Weigh the laundry in front of the customer and write the weight on the claim slip
- Count the pieces, especially for small orders and items like uniforms
- Check pockets for coins, pens, tissue and IDs
- Note visible stains, tears or missing buttons before washing
- Ask about special requests, such as a preferred scent or items to air dry
Step 2: Sort the load
Sorting protects colors and fabrics, and it makes your detergent work better.
- Separate whites, light colors and dark colors
- Wash towels and heavy items apart from light shirts
- Set aside delicates and items with care labels that say hand wash or air dry
- Never mix laundry from different customers in one machine
Step 3: Pre-treat stains
Food, oil, sweat and collar stains come out more easily when you treat them before the main wash. Apply a little liquid detergent directly on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Our stain removal guide for laundry shops covers the most common stains step by step.
Step 4: Wash with the right amount of detergent
Using the same detergent and the same dose for every load is the easiest way to deliver consistent results. Single-wash sachets help here because each sachet is already measured for one load.
- Ariel powder and Power Liquid for strong stain removal on everyday loads
- Tide powder and Power Liquid, a dependable choice for whites and regular loads
- Follow the dosing instructions on the pack and the rated capacity of your machine

Step 5: Add fabric conditioner in the rinse
Fabric conditioner is what customers notice first when they open the bag. Downy leaves clothes soft and gives them a scent regular customers learn to expect.
- Choose one or two signature scents and use them consistently
- Use Downy Antibac Kontra Kulob during the rainy season or for clothes that dry indoors
- Add the fabric conditioner in the rinse, not together with the detergent
Step 6: Dry completely
Clothes that are folded while still damp develop the musty kulob smell, which is one of the most common laundry shop complaints. Check thick items like jeans, towels and hoodies before you take them out of the dryer. Learn more in our guide on how to remove kulob smell in clothes.
Step 7: Fold neatly and pack

Neat folding is the part of your service customers see. Agree on one folding style for shirts, pants, towels and underwear, and train every staff member to follow it.
- Let clothes cool down before folding
- Fold by type and stack heavier items at the bottom
- Pack in a clean bag and attach the customer’s claim slip or label
Step 8: Quality check and release
Before you release an order, match the piece count and weight with the claim slip, check that stains noted at intake were treated, and smell the laundry for freshness. Send a quick text or Messenger message when the order is ready so customers can pick it up on time.

Frequently asked questions
How is a wash, dry and fold service usually priced?
Most laundry shops in the Philippines charge per kilo with a minimum load, and list add-ons such as ironing, comforters and express service separately. See our guide to laundry shop pricing to compute your cost per load.
How many kilos should I put in one load?
Follow the rated capacity of your washing machine and do not overload it. Clothes need room to move so detergent can reach every item and rinse out properly.
Should I use powder or liquid detergent for wash, dry and fold?
Both work well. Powder is a practical choice for everyday loads, while liquid dissolves easily and suits front-load machines. Many shops stock both. Read our Ariel vs Tide guide to compare.
How do I prevent kulob smell in finished laundry?
Dry every load completely before folding, add a fabric conditioner such as Downy Antibac Kontra Kulob in the rinse, and never pack clothes while they are still warm or damp.
